About prints: Prints on display include inkjet (gicleé), C-type and silver gelatin. We guarantee that all prints are of the highest quality and are archival i.e. they will last.

Gicleé prints , also known as archival inkjet prints now claim a life of 120 years before any noticeable fading will occur. The inks used are pigment based and are used with dedicated papers.

A C-type print is a colour print in which the print material has at least three emulsion layers of light-sensitive silver salts. Each layer is sensitized to a different primary colour – either red, blue or green – and so records different information about the colour make-up of the image. During printing, chemicals are added which form dyes of the appropriate colour in emulsion layers. It is the most common type of colour photograph.

Gelatin silver prints are the most usual means of making a black and white print from negatives. They are paper coated with a layer of gelatin which contains light sensitive silver salts. They were developed in the 1870’s and by 1895 had generally replaced albumen prints because they were more stable, did not turn yellow and were simpler to produce. Gelatin silver prints remain the standard black and white print type.

Print finish: All prints will be printed on gloss paper unless indicated otherwise. If your preference is (semi-)matte paper please mention this in your order . There is no extra cost involved . If you have more questions regarding print finishes please contact us

Framing and Mounting: the photograph/print will come unframed as this drastically decreases the cost of shipping. Once you receive the print you can then decide on having it framed or mounted in a photo-shop in your vicinity.
For any assistance on the choice of frame or mount board you can always contact us for advice.

If you, however, insist to receive the photo with mount board please contact for the price difference.

Framing : certain photographs look better framed than mounted. Again there are many types of framing. Most colour photographs look best in a white metal frame with a white "passe-partout". Some look really good with a wooden frame around it.
The use of UV resistant glass (non-shatter) is recommended as it protects the print from sunrays and breakage. Always ensure there is an air gap between the print surface and the glass as failure to do so will lead to humidity pockets on the surface of the print.

Mounting : there are quite a few possibilities here as well. A professional photo shop near you can help with these. When choosing a mount board, ask for acid-free framing mount materials. Non professional materials have high acidity levels, which over time will damage the print. Some suggestions:

PVC
a synthetic and lightweight material on which the photograph is directly attached. When mounted there is no need for framing to be able to hang it on the wall. Highly recommended for big size-prints.

Aluminium
a very trendy, more expensive material used as mount board. It is ideal for contemporary interiors.

See below examples of photographs with mount boards:

Signature: all photographs will be signed on the back with the edition number i.e. 5/10 (fifth photograph out of an edition of 10).
If you wish to have the signature on the front of the photograph, please mention this when placing your order.

Size: every photograph comes in two, three or four sizes for you to choose from.

Space: When choosing a space it is important to consider the following:

Lighting
Too much direct light, whether artificial or sunlight, on to the surface of a print will inevitably change original colours and cause fading to occur. Very bright rooms are therefore not suitable for hanging photographs.

Humidity
Prints can suffer damage in overly humid conditions. Water may cause an uneven surface and discoloration to occur. For this reason it is not recommended to hang prints in bathrooms or in small, windowless kitchens.

Heat
Prints should not be hung directly above radiators or in direct sunlight.
